Dromin House, Listowel
Dromin House is located in the townland of Drummin, a short distance from Listowel Town.
According to Valerie Bary, the construction of Dromin House was begun in 1661 and completed in 1668 for William Fitzmaurice 19th Lord Kerry. At some later point James, sixth son of Anthony and Elizabeth Raymond of Ballyloughrane, took possession of the house. During the 1800s the property was in the possession of this family. In 1812 James W. Raymond was in residence. In 1892 James Fitzjames Raymond, son of Captain Raymond, was born in Dromin. Dromin House and property passed to Donovan Hadley during the 1960s. He was a local historian and a cousin of the Raymond family. (Bary, Valerie, Houses of Kerry, Ballinakella Press, Whitegate, Co. Clare, 1994, p. 102).
