Lord Ardilaun, a member of the wealthy Guinness family, purchased Muckross House and its Estate in November 1899. Olivia, the wife of Lord Ardilaun, was related to the former owners, the Herbert family.
The Ardilauns appear to have spent little time at Muckross. Instead, the House was let out as a hunting and shooting lodge.
The documents on the database below include accounts, as well as agreements relating to rent reductions, deer trespass, fishing and salmon hauling.
If you wish to specifically consult Tenancy, Caretaking, or Grazing Agreements relating to the period of Ardilaun ownership, please do so here.
